Biting the hand that feeds

Sometimes agitating for the enemy does come back to haunt you:

A RADICAL Muslim cleric had his bid to evacuate Lebanon aboard a British ship rejected when officials blocked his return to the United Kingdom.

What's the matter? Hezbollah too rough and tumble for you, little boy? Are they too ugly for you to play cheerleader for them? I thought these were the "good guys." Why are you running away from them straight into the arms of the infidel?

The next time you see one of those true believers ranting and raving in broken English about how "we teach them a lesson" or "we attack furiously" or "we bring hell to the infidels," remember this. If half of them weren't armed to the teeth, it'd just be so pathetic that it'd make great stand up comedy material.

In the words of Trent Reznor:

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?

I thought the exact same thing when I was (unfortunately) subjected to the CNN propaganda while I was on the bike in the gym last night...they were showing a UN cruise ship loaded with people trying to escape, while Larry was interviewing the president of Lebanon...the stuff that jackass was saying made me laugh, as he was talking about men of distinction and peace, etc....

Lebanon has had it very, very hard over the past several decades. That's something that a lot of supporters of Israel don't appreciate. It's been a vassal state for almost as long as Israel has existed as a modern state, and only recently started to win back some meaningful amount of sovereignty.

The Syrians just left, but are still funding and supporting Hezbollah with help from Iran. Israel is talking about launching an invasion again, which will probably result in part of Lebanon being conquered again.

I can understand why the Lebanese government regards the Israelis as enemies. Practically every government around them has tried to occupy them in the past 50 years at some point. They should work with the Israelis to eliminate Hezbollah, but the Israelis need to appreciate that Hezbollah has been allowed to worm its way into the Lebanese government and that they will have to surgically remove it, instead of just chopping it off. The only way to do that, is through a land invasion that systematically picks off Hezbollah throughout the country so that Lebanon can start genuinely rebuilding its intelligence and military capacity.

If what you say is true, then the Lebanese President should stop with the peace rhetoric that hasn't worked and won't work and, instead, make an attempt with Israel to root out and destroy all tentacles of Hezbollah within Lebanon...

I may not have my exact numbers correct, but they were effectively a vassal state of Syria for at least, I think two decades and that was the time that Hezbollah emerged and became a "state-within-a-state." The bombing of the infrastructure in Lebanon isn't because the Israelis are pissed off at the Lebanese government, but rather Hezbollah is arguably more powerful than the country's own government and can use that infrastructure for military action with almost impunity.

They are receiving regular arms and support from Iran and Syria through that infrastructure as well. It puts the Israelis in a no-win situation with their current tactics.

You also have to appreciate the fact that Hezbollah is so powerful that they have, I think 16% of Parliament. Yes, they're a political party just like the IRA/Sinn Fein. AFAIK, Hezbollah actually means in Arabic, "Party of God." It's not going to be easy to dislodge them from the government.
