Julian Sanchez on Ron Paul

Julian Sanchez did a pretty bang up job taking on the recent allegations about Ron Paul. Some of you may not have seen this, which is why I am devoting a whole blog post to just pointing it out. Very fair and balanced, and he came to a conclusion that may startle some of you. The man who wrote most of this crap that is now being used to smear Ron Paul is apparently none other than Lew Rockwell.

I suggest that all of you who support Ron Paul read this and circulate it. Link to it on your blogs, and help boost its Google rating as much as possible in the process. Also, if you have a Digg account, here's the link to the page on Digg for this article.

Well, I'm not entirely convinced. Lew may have been the chief ghostwriter, but that doesn't mean he wrote everything, particularly the stuff in question. And from the articles of his I've read, it doesn't seem like his style.

My guess would be Rothbard wrote the stuff. Rothbard often wrote about social/racial stuff like that, and it seems more his style.

Also, notice that Sanchez says, "During the period when the most incendiary items appeared—roughly 1989 to 1994". Rothbard died in 1995, suggesting the inflammatory stuff died with him.

Both men have articles available for reading at LRC, in case anyone wants to compare and contrast.

Also, keep in mind that Reason and LRC compete for internet traffic. The guys at Reason might have a vested interest in undermining Lew; they don't have anything to gain by undermining Rothbard.

Good grief. Mike, would you mind deleting my first two posts?

Interesting point. There does seem to be a possibility of a conflict of interest there. The only thing that makes pause there is that this was written by Julian Sanchez, one of their best who is, from what I've seen, a very independent guy.
