Unbelievable

Police taser a teen who was laying on the ground with a broken back 19 times. 19 times. The excuse that the department makes for their actions? He was unresponsive and muttering crazy stuff. Of course, if you had just fallen off a 30-foot tall bypass, you might be a little off your rocker too, though, like this teen, it would be pretty freakin obvious that you are harmless in your state.

Men were tarred and feathered for a lot less than this back in the days of our founding fathers.

What I can't figure out is how tazing someone is supposed to resolve the issue of being "unresponsive and muttering crazy stuff."

While I agree with you both that incremental victories are a great thing, I would warn the two of you that Heller was more dangerous than you may think. Vox was right on this point in his recent article on the subject. The range of weapons that were permissible in that ruling is very small, and Scalia bent over backwards on behalf of tyrannical public policy everywhere to make sure that he didn't step on anyone's toes. Sort of like a free speech ruling that says "you do have a right to free speech, but the government may limit it wherever there is a 'valid public need.'"

That said, I'm not trying to harsh on Tim Lee here. I've talked with him a decent bit before, and he's not a buffoon like a lot of libertarians.

You're not a cop, so clearly you don't need to know. It's classified. They could tell you, but then they'd have to kill you.

And the method of execution is unremitting tazing.

My mother-in-law's old Suburban was made in Mexico, but the profits went to Detroit. My Honda Civic was assembled by American workers, and the profits went to Japan. Tell me, Mr. X, how exactly that Suburban benefited the American worker more than my Civic.

Like most apologists for the big 3, you're unwilling to face up to the fact that biggest reason why the Japanese are eating the big 3 alive is the difference in quality. There is no small American coupe capable of competing with the Honda Civic in quality and looks. If you want to win the fight over exports, here's a thought: make cars that can compete on all counts with those made by Toyota and Honda.

There is a form of poetic justice in that...

The story reminds me of this scene out of the old SciFi movie THX1138.

Don't taze me, bro!

"What I can't figure out is how tazing someone is supposed to resolve the issue of being "unresponsive and muttering crazy stuff.""

The cops wouldn't use batons to make this guy comply. So why are the People allowing the cops to use a more lethal enforcement tool?
