Comments like this are why I try to avoid using comparisons in arguments, since most comparisons don't work:
That said ... we're talking about illegal "soft drugs", not alcohol. Yes, there are alcohol abusers ... but EVERYONE who uses grass is a criminal ... just as every border jumper is a criminal. No ifs, ands or butts.See, it takes a special sort of person to throw drugs, illegal immigration, child rape and blowing up buildings into the same conversation as arguments against legalizing petty drug offenses like smoking pot in your own home. However, lesser forms of this sort of wild, flailing around are really common too. It's hard to show any respect to someone who does this, and I admit that I am guilty of automatically thinking "this person is dumb as a box of bricks" when I hear or read arguments like this because it shows that the person simply does not have the good sense to realize that these things are as related to one another, for the purpose of the discussion, as an apple is to a moon rock.
While we're solving all these problems, why don't we cure pedophilia by decriminalizing it, cure the muslim problem by converting to islam, and fix the speeding problem by ripping down speed limit signs?
