Homework

This is my homework assignment for a 1 credit class I am taking on Flash. In light of what's going on around here with property tax rates and the housing crisis, I figured it would be a good way of showing what's wrong with the way our country funds its public education system... (since it starts as soon as the page loads, you'll need to refresh the page to watch it from start to finish)

To say nothing of the obtuseness of charging people rent on property that they own. There's a vehicle for government assault on private property right there, outside of the auspices of Kelo.

Here's another thought...driving at how stupid the government is...suppose gov't takes the property and auctions it off because the homeowner can't afford to pay the government it's rent. Gov't sells property for well under what it was previously valued at. Now the assessor's office swings by and assesses it for well under it previous value because it and likely neighboring houses are valued at so much less. Then the school system gets less $, yet the workload on the school system remains the same.

Then the school system gets less $, yet the workload on the school system remains the same.

And then more people start to homeschool but yet are still taxed and so the workload drops but the revenue is the same so it is actually a net gain for the school.

Sure would be nice to see property taxes go away. Then people would see what their gov actually costs. Property taxes are hidden from most people due to either paying rent, or having their taxes as part of their mortgage payments. And of course the fact that you don't own anything they can take away from you for not paying their vig.
