This is a really interesting web page. It's certainly not exhaustive, but it shows a number of examples of how many non-rape, non-child molesting things one can do--some of which don't even involve you having sex--that can get you labeled a sex offender if you are in the wrong part of the country. It's probably a good link to keep around in case you ever hear someone say how all sex offenders are evil, since it clearly shows how broad the category actually is.
You might be a sex offender...

When I saw this title I didn't think it was serious. I thought it was a spin off of Jeff Foxworthy or something.
Thank goodness I live in Canada, eh!
So how are those censorious "human rights commissions" workin out for y'all?...
Thanks for posting and reading that article. These are just a few of the sad cases in our justice system, but not all the cases are American; some were from the UK, and some from Australia as well.
What I hope saddened you readers out there are those teenagers landing on the registry for consensual teen sex. I have posted three links at the top of my article in relation to that topic, including a petition run by Texas Voices, an organization I support. At the least, read the articles in the links.
Yes I intentionally took a page out of the Foxworthy book when writing this article. However, the cases are more tragic than comedic. At the least, I'm hoping to illustrate how Predator Panic has backfired in this country. There needs to be lots of changes to these laws, but at the least, a start would be reforming the laws to only register those who are proven to pose a real threat to the public, not some teen who slept with his teen lover.
