Lord Brajerian stepped into the training room where Sara waited for him. The Talian's steps were deliberate and self-assured. For the first time she saw him as a soldier, not her ocassional instructor. Behind him, another soldier walked into the room. He wore no armor and carried no weapon other than a short sword. In fact, the only things he wore were his gray sparring pants and the sword which was strapped to his side. She wasn't sure what her trainer had in mind, but it wasn't exactly as it appeared.
One hour ago, Lord Brajerian had given her an order to suit up and arm herself as though she were going into an actual battle. She wore the exposed exoskeletal version of the armor that was standard issue for inductees into the Special Defense Corps and had a sidearm, a battle rifle and all of the bladed weapons that were normally issued to her service. She stood there, rigid and at attention awaiting her lord's next command.

She stood there, rigid and at attention awaiting her lord's next command.
Her sparring partner stepped out from behind Lord Brajerian and stood
at attention about thirty feet away from her. Lord Brajerian firmly
order him to prepare himself. He then turned his attention back over to
Sara and said, "trainee, activate your armor and raise personal shields
to full power. Then command your firearms to deactivate their safety
mechanisms and charge their magnetic fields."
She did as she was told. Without saying a word or moving, she summoned her armor's command and control systems and ordered them to activate her armor. The armor expanded over the course of her entire body, completely encasing it in its nanotech weaves. A heads up display (HUD) on her armor showed the power level for her personal shields as they raised to full power. Once they reached full strength, the safeties on her weapons dropped and she saw two indicators on her HUD that they were ready for combat.
Lord Brajerian allowed a cold, heavy minute to pass between the two combatants before he finally gave the order. "Sargeant, engage the trainee. Stop just short of killing her." He said it without a hint of concern as to where the battle could go.
Before Sara could begin to react, her opponent had crossed most of the distance between them. In the two seconds after Lord Brajerian had issued his order, and Sara took up a fighting stance, her opponent had unsheathed his sword and lunged at least fifteen feet toward her. Sara reached for her sidearm and brought it up only to have it knocked out of her hand and nearly slashed apart by the sargeant's sword. The sargeant twisted his foot around behind him and used the momentum from his lunge and first blow, to deliver a terrible side kick straight to Sara's chest.
The kick threw Sara back toward the floor. She barely managed to break her fall when she realized that he was almost on top of her once more. The HUD now showed that she had lost nearly a third of her personal shield from that first attack. As he brought his sword down, she raised her arm and her armor activated the retractable blade on her forearm. The move saved her from losing most of her remaining personal shield, but the sargeant's sword caught her blade at the right angle and cut clear through her blade on its way down.
Sara kicked at him, and managed to stun him momentarily thanks to the extra strength that her armor gave her extra blows. Seeing her opening, she lunged at him and began beating on him as hard as she could. Each successive blow seemed to do more damage, but finally the sargeant got an opening and back handed her with an extra telekinetic force behind the blow. The HUD showed her personal shield now at half strength, but moments later it would be completely gone.
Siezing this new opportunity, the sargeant brought his blade down hard twice more on her chest and the force from both blows shut down her personal shield. After several frenzied punches and kicks, large pieces of her armor were broken off her body, and its systems were starting to report catastrophic failure. She tried to punch at him, but he simply cut her fist off. Before she knew what happened, he lunged forward at her and slashed open her stomach and chest with two very deep blows.
After the three traumatic blows, Sara collapsed to the ground, with her opponent almost completely unharmed. The sargeant nodded at Lord Brajerian who summoned a medical treatment for his trainee. The force field around the room lowered, and the wall opened up. Several small machines cralwed out and began stitching up her wounds to the point that a medical team could take her away for treatment.
Lord Brajerian sighed and muttered, "'girl power', like water crashing on the rocks in a time of war..." He turned around and walked out of the room. He had enough of her for today.
