The recent shooting in Alabama may have left a lot of people dead, but it doesn't justify bringing soldiers in to keep the peace. Surely local and state police forces were more than sufficient to control the crime scenes and keep the peace. This is part of a growing trend of getting the military more involved domestically. It began with republican meddling with the Posse Comitatus Act to help fight the drug trade, expanded through the rise of SWAT units in every podunk jurisdiction and recently the Army has started to take a more active role in "Homeland Security." The trend is moving steadily toward more military and paramilitary forces aimed at the American public.
The problem with Mexico is excacerbating the situation in the Media, and besides Hugo Chavez's likely hand in that destabilization program <a href="http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/irans-push-into-nicaragua-why-is-no-one-concerned/">there is also apparently Iran</a>, masters at destabilizing with their proxy Hammas, busy meddling in Nicaragua AND Mexico. That's something to be concerned with as far as a Mexican collapse is possible and our border is vulnerable - will we see another Iran/Nicaragua affair?
And people think I'm out there because of my rabid distrust of Government, in ANY form, these days.
You may be interested to know that Army officials are investigating this too. initial reports are, no one with the legitimate authority to send these guys was involved in the process.
