About

I'm a 26 year old Software Engineer living and working in the Northern Virginia area. You may notice that this blog often has little to do with Software Engineering. There's a reason for that. It is only one of my interests, and I nearly went the pre-law route in college before deciding firmly in my sophomore year that I really wasn't cut out for being a lawyer and stayed with my existing major, Computer Science (which was also a hobby). I also don't hold that many very strong opinions about programming topics, and I like to study subjects which have some tangential relationship with what I do at work so I can make at least a half-assed defense of how I use my time. So hopefully that explains the schizophrenia between the name and the content a little.

I don't identify particularly with any operating system because I already have a religion. Like wives, one is enough for any (sane) man at any given time. Ask me to decide between emacs and Vim and I'll respond gedit just to be a contrarian. The loss of Be Inc to Microsoft nearly shook my faith in capitalism; instead I became a misanthrope when I realized it was just another victory for human stupidity. Scratch that; being a geek going through the public schools made me a misanthrope. I hope to homeschool my kids so that they don't see at least a baker's dozen of reasons everyday for wishing the God had torpedoed Noah's ark and started over.

In my spare time, I like to use my GitHub repository to do drive-by codings against Movable Type. I've posted a lot of work from blog styles, to plugins, to forks/fixes of existing and broken tools. I give this stuff away in the hopes that it is useful to others, helps add to the base of property enjoyable by all, etc. I see it as part of my duty, as a Christian, to contribute to the common good.
